Boarding Guidelines and Policies

Hopewell Veterinary Hospital

Welcome!

Hopewell Veterinary Hospital offers high-quality boarding care for dogs, cats and other small pets for those times when you just can’t take your pet with you.  Our kennel staff is trained not only to keep your pet happy, fed, and clean, but also to monitor your pet’s health while it stays with us.

·        Our kennel is fully heated and air conditioned.

·        All dogs are walked outside in our fenced yard 4 times each day.

·        Dogs and cats are housed in cages or runs appropriate to their size and temperament.  Our staff is available to assist you in reserving the proper size cage for your pet.

·        We provide clean blankets and towels for your pet’s comfort.

·        All pets are fed according to the instructions you supply.

·        Pets will be given necessary oral medications according to your instructions at no extra charge.

·        Diabetic animals that need insulin injections are charged an additional fee of $11 per day.

·        Exotic pets (birds, small mammals, reptiles) are cared for in the cage or tank provided by the pet owner.

Policies

We have a number of policies designed to ensure the best possible boarding experience for your pet.

·        All animals planning to board must be up to date on their vaccinations. Dogs must be up to date on their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations. Cats must be up to date on their FVRCPC, and Rabies vaccinations. Vaccinations must be done 2 weeks before the animal is due to board with us to ensure proper immunity. These vaccinations are required to protect your pet and other pets staying with us.

·        Please complete and update the “lifetime boarding sheet.  We need to have complete contact information in case of illness or other emergency.

·        You are welcome to bring your pet’s own food. Through years of experience, we have found that animals do best if they are fed their normal diet while they are away from home.  Dogs that do not have their own food are fed Hill’s Sensitive Stomach dry food or Iams canned food.  Cats are fed Iams Adult cat food.

·        Please leave your pet’s own toys at home. We cannot be responsible for lost personal items.  Also, for your pet’s safety, please remove any choker or prong collars before boarding.
